PORTSMOUTH– The New Hampshire Art Association is accepting online submissions through Tuesday, July 5 for the 43rd annual Jack Parfitt open juried photography exhibition.
Located at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery in Portsmouth, this exhibit is one of NHAA's most prestigious exhibits of the year. It is held annually in honor of Jack Parfitt, one of NHAA’s founders, to commemorate his photographic excellence.
The theme this year is “New Work.” It is easy to get into a photographic rut – but then came COVID. Your work may have changed direction as a result. Hence the evocative theme.
The exhibit is open to NHAA members and area artists, and works chosen will be on display at the Levy Gallery from Aug. 3 through Aug 28. One to three pieces can be submitted. All work will be juried in digital format and artists will be notified of jury results by email.
This year’s juror is Stephen DiRado, a photography professor at Clark University. He has more than 40 years of experience in the field of documentary photography filmmaking and conceptual art.
First, second and third place prizes, as well as honorable mentions will be awarded during an opening reception on Friday, Aug. 5 at the Levy Gallery.
There will also be a Lotte Jacobi Award presented by fine art photographer Gary Samson, New Hampshire’s seventh Artist Laureate and Professor Emeritus of Photography at the New Hampshire Institute of Art.
Visit www.nhartassociation.org for a prospectus outlining the submission guidelines to enter digital images to be juried and for more information on the juror.
